Colin,
I have a similar problem that I'm still observing/documenting. We
have a simple implementation of AlphaStor, in the one jukebox we have
several pools with no rotation and one pool with a three location rotation
(inside jukebox, offsite, onsite waiting use). When I add volumes, via a
tape movement job, AlphaStor updates itself correctly but when it does the
nsrjb -a to add the tapes to the library's inventory the process fails and
AlphaStor throws a wobbler and adds all the tapes to the library (including
those in other locations...)
Now, AlphaStor still has tapes marked as being in their correct
locations when I do a list all volumes. But Networker shows all of the
volumes in the library. My way out of it, at the moment, is to go through
the list on AlphaStor and remove the relevant tapes from the library (using
the remove option on the GUI). Once this is done things are stable again.
Well, investigations are still going on but it looks like there may
be a rogue library definition somewhere in AlphaStor. I'll post when I get
some more info. I haven't opened a support call yet as I think I can find
out a bit more first. Besides, I know a get out now so it's not critical...

AlphaStor 2.1.2
W2K SP3

Networker 6.1.2
Solaris 8

Bob

Hi,

We have an issue with our Alpha Store/Networker environment. When new tapes
are placed in the jukebox they are not becoming available in the Networker
database. The loaction is correct in Alpha Store and "nsrjb" looks fine, but
when you check the database with "mminfo -ar volume, avail" only the tapes
that were already in the jukebox have the "sm" flag set. We have already
contacted Legato support, and they sent us some new binaries which was meant
to fix this known bug. Obviusly these new binaries did not work. The
workaround at the moment is to either restart the Networker server or
manually moount the tapes without the "sm" flag set, both these options
correctly sets all tapes in the jukebox with the "sm" flag. My question is
has anyone experienced a similar problem and were there any other means of
correcting this. Thanks.....
