This does look like some form of mis-match between the config of the nic
card and the port it's connected to however i have worked in an environment
where solaris servers connected to cisco switches performed at best when
both ends were set to auto-neg.
The windows servers were the opposite (but not all). Both ends had to be
forced to full duplex to get best performance from them.
100kb/s isn't very good but neither is 600kb/s that the test you performed
proved. If your server has 100meg nic card i would be looking for 5mb/s and
above throughput from a unix server and maybe a little less from a MS OS.
I'd suggest setting up bigasm from both clients to your networker server.
Setting up bigasm tests has been discussed on this list a few times in the
past so searching the archives will give you more info on it if you need it.
