My understanding of a level 1 backup is that it backs up everything that has
been changed since the last full backup an incr backup only backs up what
has changed since the last backup of any type. Hope that helps.

Digging through mminfo while cleaning up the system of cruft I found
some old backups sitting around. I saw we have "full", "incr" and
"1"... I'm thinking the previous admin was tyring differnt levels for a
while and changed his plan but never cleaned up the cruft. What would a
level 1 be equivalent of, is it an incremental or what?
