Robert,

The manual says on how networker's criteria to select pool to use:
1. Group (highest precedence)
2. Client
3. Save set
4. Level (lowest precedence)

Normally we use groups as the criteria in deciding which pool to use.
And if you want to direct bootstrap/index to separate pool, you will add those saveset as the criteria.

Therefore, unless you are using only default pool to backup data, it is almost impossible to separate bootstrap/index to separate pool.

just my 2 cents...

Hi Engman,

I know the index is save by the server either to tape or disk, my question
is why I can't specify the index for this client to save to disk instead of
tape.

Hi Robert,

The index is saved by the server !
You only accept the client client_name !

Be aware that you should not stage the index
for the server or bootstrap!
(The bootstrap info will be sent out with the
disk device as source, but then you move the
data on to tape, and you don't know which one
after a crash...)

Have a nice weekend.

Hi All,

Anybody try to pull by pool for a client before with working example.
Basically I want this particular client saveset=index to backup to disk
instead of tape so I configure it as below
Under "IndexPool"
device = C:\nsr\IndexPool
saveset = index
client = client_name

Before starting the backup I do a preview using C:\savegrp -pvvvv
client_group and it shown me that all the backup data going to "Onsite" pool
and the client index going to "IndexPool" which is correct as what I want.
But when I start the group backup from server, all including the indexes
going to "Onsite" pool. Why the discrepancy ?

If I take away the client attribute from the "Pool", all indexes will go to
disk including other clients.

Is that a bug for Networker 6.1.2, Anybody test on 6.2 :)

cheers...
Robert
