The only explanation I can think of is that for your first directed recover you
are setting the browse date in the gui to an earlier date to restore data from
an earlier backup version.  When this recover finishes, NetWorker automatically
resets the browse date/time in the gui to the current date/time.

If you then use this same gui to run another recover, the most recent backup
will be used because the browse date was changed back to the current day when
the first recover completed.

When restoring data from earlier backup versions the browse date in the gui
must be set each time before running a recover. If you don't, NetWorker will
use the most recent backup by default.
