I really see no reason why you can't just copy the files using a
standard copy command. Perhaps, however, an archiving tool like tar
would be preferred. The main issue is that older versions of NetWorker
created indexes with holey files, requiring one to use various chicanery
to circumnavigate the problem. This has all been resolved in the current
release, and probably before that. The current indexes should behave
like any other "sane" file.
