This is explained in the Unix Admin Guide (p.138 of 6.1 manual), but
curiously not in the NT version ???  There are two environment variables
you can use to modify this behaviour - NSR_MAXLOGSIZE and NSR_MAXLOGVERS.
It also describes - as others have noted - that "The trimming mechanism
only functions when you start nsrd. The nsrd daemon does not check
periodically to see whether the log file has exceeded NSR_MAXLOGSIZE."
