You might also be able to use different pools for different media types.  We
have a library with two AIT-2 and two AIT-3 drives.  The AIT-3 drives are
connected to a NetApp and the other two are connected to a Linux box.  We
assign different Groups to different Pools to sort tape writing.  Depending on
how you want to distribute your backups to the different drives, this may work
for you as well.  This solution requires no additional licenses.  Fortunately
the barcodes are all the same for AIT-[23] drives.
