Hi,

I've got Networker 6.2 on W2K (sp3) connected to a Adic Scalar 100 with 2
AIT-3 drives.

I'm having an issue where I can't write faster than 1.8MB/s to \\.\Tape0 or
\\.\Tape1. I thought it might be a networking (speed/duplex) or client
disks being defragmented so I took them out of the loop by copying about 1GB
worth of 20MB and 50MB files to C:\temp\test (and created a save set for
that directory) on the local disk on the Networker server. These disks will
easily read/write large files at 8MB/s.

Backups worked very well in my test lab (library connected to a Dell pc), I
consistently got 8-9MB/s when backing up large files. I moved the Library
and SCSI card to our server (Dell Poweredge 2450) and the backups are
running really slow. I didn't tweak any settings in the test environment so
I didn't need to do anything to the production environment.

Some of my settings:
- Paralellism on tape drives: 12
- server paralellism: 24
- 64-bit Adaptec 29160 in a 32-bit PCI slot (this worked great on the Dell
PC)
- Sony tape diagnostics have no problem talking to the drives
- Tried both Microsoft and Adaptec drivers for the 29160
- I "disabled" both AIT-3 drives in the w2k removeable storage manager
- Not seeing any SCSI errors in the NT eventlog
- Didn't tweak any settings on the 29160
- Backups are not failing, just really slow

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ben
