Hi Kristof,
We did have a similar situation at one of our clients site on a Win2K
platform with STK's L180 jukebox using Networker 6.1.1.
They have decided they will create and print their own barcode labels.
It turned out that they did it with on an old inkjet printer in a rather
poor quality paper. When we label them with the "Match barcode label" option
on, a lot of them seemed to be identified and properly registered in the
"Volumes" tab (for the ones that couldn't make it, we turned that option off
and proceeded - no other alternative...).
When inventoring, Networker started loading tapes into the drives to verify
the labels, tapes that have I could see they had readable (at least
initialy) barcode labels.
We did get around that problem when we replaced them with proper ones.

And incidentaly, when we withdraw tapes from the jukebox and deposited the
again, the tapes are appearing as unlabeled. We have to inventory the slots
for them to register correctly.
It seems that this the usual behaviour, but I was wondering why it doesn't
do it automaticaly. Maybe there's a good reason for it (or I'm just thinking
in terms of that jukeboxe only?).
Does anyone has any views on that?

| Hello list ,
|
| I have following problem :
|
| At random time the jukebox inventory seems to be a bit confused.
| Tapes used before , and labeled , appear with an -*
| (unlabeled) if i run the nsrjb command.
|
| After I've performed an nsrjb -I command , the tapes appear
| correct ( correct label , savesets , ... )
|
| Sounds familiar to somebody ?
|
| Of course this troubles me because a often get errors at cloning time.
| Although the correct tape has been mounted , it is unable to
| read label an stops...
|
| The config : Networker server 6.1 at Sun Machine , Clients
| 6.0 at Win Machines , Storagetek Silo's
|
| Thx in advance
