I've used St. Bernard OFM and Legato's Snapshot.

We found different problems with each product. Snapshot abends and OFM seemed
to hang. We back up to a Sun/Qualstar system and clients include various Unix,
NT/Win2K, Novell. We've only had trouble with Novell clients.

It seems that the configuration (product and OS patches/revisions) is critical
in either case. We've still not got it sorted. For safety, I close down all
open apps about once a fortnight and restart with no open file product. That
always works although it's very inconvenient.

Is anyone using an open file manager for Novell clients other than the one
that is packaged within the Legato Client Pak for Novell? I am told by my
Novell administrator that the Solitude.cdm causes problems. I am not very
familiar with Novell and would like some ideas/thoughts on what others are
using to backup open files.

Thanks,
Scott
