As far as I remember when I did it (and as far as I remember)
You should pay attention to 2 things:

1. When I restored files from the backup, ntuser.dat is restored
in %systemroot%\profiles\<current_user>\windows\profiles\<user>,
and we found workaround for that, we just copy files back to
%systemroot%\profiles. And when we do that, we copy ntuser.dat
too, and all settings are back, at least in my case.

2. We noticed that when we restored Metaframe it "see" that, for
example, M:\ and N:\ are used, and automatically O:\ and P:\ are
assigned. We tried to restore Metaframe again, and we get next
few letters for drive names. Solution for this problem is that we
disconnect the assigned network drive names, and that we map old ones.
Maybe the easiest way to do this is from the Windows NT Explorer,
menu Tools -> Disconnect Network Drive (we select drive we want
to disconnect), and then Tools -> Map Network Drive. We must
do this from the client (where we see network drives).

There could be more, but in my case this was enough. Perhaps
someone else can give You (and us) more details regarding his/her
experience.
