Is it possible to export a node, then import the node back to a 
Different domain on the same server.

Yes, but not exactly that way:  You can:  
a) export the node
b) rename the current node to node-temp
c) import the node
d) rename node to node-imported
e) update node-imported domain=newdomain
f) rename node-temp to node

 If so, will inactive versions of files with no active version be controlled by 
the policy of the new
domain?
