Hi ,

 

    I recently implemented the following backup strategy to backup one
of the sql server to TSM through TDP.

 

    Backup strategy (full + log+ differential):

      Sun  --> Full + log backup (full backup is followed by transaction
log backup and truncate the log).  I just backup the transaction log
just to truncate it after full backup.

      Mon - Sat --> Diffull (differential backup).

 

    I follow same management class for all the sql backup (full,
incremental & log).   Below is my backup copy group details attached to
this node. 

 

        Versions Data Exists: no -limit

        Versions Data Deleted: 1

        Retain Extra Versions: 30                  

        Retain Only Version: 30

 

    At any point of time I want to retains only last 30 days of sql
backup (full, incremental & log) in the tsm.  

 

    Issue encountered:

 

      The diffull backup gets inactivated and expired after full backup
is performed on the sql server. I am not sure what is causing the difful
copy to get inactivated and expire after full backup is completed.   Can
some one tell me why my differential backup is not following the
retention policy.  Should I need to change any thing my configuration
for this backup strategy.

 

   My Server & client Configuration: 

 

    Server : Version 5, Release 4, Level 1.2 

    OS   : AIX 6.1 TL5

 

    TDP Client:

 

     OS: Windows 2003 R2 standard x64 edition (SP2)

     SQL version: SQL server 2005 (64-bit) 

     Tsm client Api: 5.5.3

     TSM TDP version: 5.5.0.0
