Hello,
I backup the netapps is several ways.
I use the ndmp over the network and use snapmirror in tsm 6.x
It depents what is on the volumes and the volumes spaces.
I n snapmirror there is backup of the snapshots, so it is very good option to 
sve data for history backups.

Metroclusters, nothing more than two netapps... nothing special if you want to 
do NDMP, just zone your tape drives to both nodes in the cluster.
