Hi All,

Apologies if this seems a rather basic question. I've been looking online
for a while now and reviewing the manuals with no luck, so I wanted to
throw this question out to a wider audience as it is something we've not
yet seen:

I've been doing some testing with client code recently (was mainly doing
some backup and restore testing) and noticed something I've never seen in
the backup summary of the dsmsced.log (here is an example I found again
today):

30.08.2010 15:52:26 Total number of objects inspected: 32,054
30.08.2010 15:52:26 Total number of objects assigned: 3,240
30.08.2010 15:52:26 Total number of objects backed up: 972

The second line talks about a total number of objects assigned? What is
this?

I've found this when I did a couple of test backups on a Windows Client -
Client version 6.2.1.1. What I did was to make a copy of a directory, and
delete the original directory, thinking this would expire the deleted
directory and back up the first directory again - to similate changing
data (delete & newly created files). I have a small idea that it has
something to do with it, as the doesn't appear in the backup summary
unless I make the copy and delete the original.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Werner
