The posting referred to a February 2009 discussion where no resolution was
posted, and no feedback regarding a suggestion to review the DB2 logs.
A classic cause of a large restoral of this type slowing down dramatically is
file system congestion: it starts out with lots of free space, but then
progressively bogs down as the remaining space is heavily fragmented when
contiguous tracts of space are needed. This can be caused by trying to operate
within a disk/file system which is now underconfigured relative to current
need, which can happen where a database has grown over time.
In any case, some good analysis is required during the operation to find the
cause for the particular operation.
