The one limitation of mmbackup is that you cannot assign non-default management class to files. If you want to do that, you need to do regular incrementals through dsmc. Also, if you're not running the latest patch level of GPFS 3.2.1 mmbackup will fail if you have any unlinked file sets in GPFS.
