Grigori,

You can use Data Protection for Exchange legacy-style backups
without the BA Client. Data Protection for Exchange ships
and installs the TSM API Client, which is how it sends legacy
backup data to the TSM Server. In this case, the BA Client
is only needed if you want to use the TSM Scheduler.

If you are using Data Protection for Exchange VSS backups,
then it does require the BA Client, since the BA Client
is the "VSS Requestor" and the data mover.
