Hello Fran,
I couldn't help you with Admin Center 6.1. I never use it beeng TSM Admin for 9
years. After using WEB Admin and command line interface for long time I have
found that Web Admin is not available in TSM 6.1. I have tried Admin Center 6.1
and found it much better than all previous versions. It is definately improved,
but still not ready for daily use: it is still too complex, requires huge
resourses comparible with TSM Server, too slow, not reliable, etc. After
searching something suitable we started to use TSMExplorer from
www.s-iberia.com and forgot about all problems. My overall mark for
TSExplorer is perfect: very small, simple, fast, minimal system resources,
amazing statistics and reports, improved command line interface - amazing table
mode. Very usefull inerface similar to Windows Explorer allows to use it
without documentation immediately after installation (read readme.txt and enjoy
TSM administration). As far as I understand I am using not the final release -
improvments are comming quite often.
At least you can download and install trial version, which has almost full
functionality without possibility to modify TSM Server (readonly mode).
Kindest regards,
Grigori

Hello,

Yesterady I was working with new TSM AC 6.1. and I was getting several errors
from Admin Center 6.1. Twice I got to restart the TSM server/ac Machine becuase
TSM AC hanged. I suffered the TSM AC 5.3.. But several years late. In my
opinion, the TSM AC look & feel is not so good, it is too complicate to use
for new and even for experienced users.

I think TSM Manager and others software is an alternative for
experimented users but the first impression for the new users is to
drive off TSM. Until now TSM users don't claim enought about AC..

I would like to know how many TSM administrators are using the AC, and how many
people are using only AC without TSM Admin command line ( dsmadmc or dsmadmc
-console). This will be an example if the TSM AC GUI is good or people only
uses AC for two o three admin tasks.

IBM should solve this problem now and IBM should improve the TSM GUI. One
example is the XIV Gui.

I also think, IBM should simplify TSM too much, each day other SW are doing the
Backup tasks in a simple way and TSM needs a lot of configurations.

Regards,

Fran
