More opportunities to be a DBA ;--)

This seems to be the likely cause since my NUM_LOG_SPAN value was still at
the original 2GB (3) value.

This also makes sense as the catalyst for IC62978.

My ex-DB2 DBA (we are now completely Oracle) also thought the daily REORG
was too frequent as well as the forced reindex at startup (which would
explain why my last crash/restart ran 3+ hours). I am loath to change any
DB2 values since I don't know how it will effect the TSM side of the
equation.

Of course turning off the daily reorg begs the question as to how
frequently to push a DB reorg (I assume this would be a direct DB2
command, not TSM - please correct me if I am wrong).

Zoltan,

My server is Windows, but had the exact problem - clients failing with
ANS1316E when the server recovery log is obviously not full, and the
server
doesn't go down (which it would if truly out of log space).

Look at IC63373.

Local fix (which is to reset a DB2 variable) seems to have solved it,
we've
gone 5 days now without the failure (longest so far, she said with fingers
still crossed...) If you issue the DB2 GET DB CFG as shown in the APAR,
it
will at least display the variable and you can see if the problem applies.
