Hey Matthew,

Thanks for the extracts below; they both look good. By command line, I
meant the administrative command line dsmadmc; you can logon to it using
a TSM account with system privileges and run the "RESTORE NODE" command
(run a help restore node from the dsmadmc window for more info). You
made use of virtual file space mappings during the NDMP backup; the
restore command will look like "RESTORE NODE NETAPP_NODE
SOURCE_VIRTUALFSMAP DESTINATION_VIRTUALFSMAP wait=yes"

>>> The user actually wants to restore the data of a normal node to a
space on this NetApp filer; I'm guessing this isn't impossible? <<<
Yes you can restore the data of a normal node (using your regular
baclient) to a space on this NetApp filer; one way to do this is to make
use of cifs shares and perform the restore to the cifs share (you have
to make sure the account you use to perform the restore has write
privileges to the cifs share) location under "restore to Following
Location in baclient restore GUI" (\\NETAPP_FILER\VOLUME_NAME\CIFS_SHARE
for instance)

Good luck.

According to this page
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/tips0399.html?Open

the NDMP functionality is not available from the standard BA client
apps. If it _is_ available, how do I start the dsmc client and force it
ask me for the password? PASSWORDACCESS GENERATE is already set in
dsm.opt.

Much appreciated,
Matthew
