Not necessarily.  You would think so, but in my experience your at about
the break even point.  Due to the SAN having to go to tape, as opposed
to being able to go to disk on a LAN backup.  I backup a few Exchange
systems via TDP that equal about 1.2 TB in about 4 or so hours.

However, a good strategy would be to do a full once a week or month and
do diffs or incremental each day for speed's sake.
