I'm using IBMtape with 2.6.9-67.0.4. After flogging the RPM for a while,
I ended up just copying IBMtape.ko to
/lib/modules/2.6.9-67.0.4.ELsmp/kernel/drivers/scsi/IBMtape.ko. You can
either take it out of the 2.6.9-42 modules tree, or run the IBMtape RPM
through rpm2cpio. After that run depmod, and you're good to go.
