Thanks for your reply Tim. This is the procedure we are using.

Is there anything that would cause the registry not to restore properly?
I.E. an exclusion of the system32/config folder under the option set?

Heres my experience with Windows restores, Have been successful
with both 2000 and 2003 on both like hardware and unlike hardware

1. Install fresh copy of OS with same SP level on new server
Same computername, use workgroup not domain.

2. Install TSM client on new server

3. Restore in this order with no reboots

    C: drive
    System State
    System Services

4. Reboot new server, Original server should be intact with all
   Programs Installed.

5. Restore other drives D: ...

6. Reboot again

6. Add back to domain and reboot

Note: With dislike hardware there are a lot of prompting for new devices
and drivers during Step 4.

One of the servers had a SQL 2000 database, extra steps required
One of the servers had IIS settings that didn't come back. I had to
use the iiscnfg utility to export and import the IIS settings.

Subject: Windows 2000 BMR Restore

I am trying to perform a Windows 2000 BMR restore with TSM 5.3.4.0
client. Both the file system and system object restores are successful.
Upon reboot the server is no longer joined properly to the domain, event
logs are empty and nothing appears under add-remove programs to name a
few of the problems.

It would seem as though the registry is not restoring properly. When I
go into the ADSM.sys folder and browse through to the registry objects
SAM, SECURITY, SOFTWARE and SYSTEM they show with 0 byes.

Is there anything that would cause the registry not to restore properly?
I.E. an exclusion of the system32/config folder under the option set?
This seems to affect several servers that I have tried to restore. Any
help or suggestions would be appreciated.

TSM 5.3
AIX 5.3

Thanks for any help, suggestions advice.
