you have to enter:

alien -i --scripts TIVsm-API.i386.rpm
alien -i --scripts TIVsm-BA.i386.rpm

you can ignore the "error message postinstall .."

AFAIK, Knoppix is a close relative of Debian which makes use of .deb, not
.rpm.
How do you install the client on it?

(Do you extract RPM and then manually implant the files???)
