TDP for R3 has always been a bit of an ugly child. Rather than use a
platform-specific install process, it has historically used the SAME
install process on all platforms.

You will need the JRE; you do not need a gui on the platform if you have
an X-station available. Just set your display environment variable to
point to the X-station. Or use the '-console' flag (which you can find
out about by reading the release notes that install along with the
package; does anyone else find this appallingly stupid?).

You realize, of course, that Oracle installs a complete java environment
when it installs, and that SAP is becoing increasingly java-centric?

Hi All,

I have a customer who wishes to install a recent TDP r/3 for oracle. As
any sensible unix admin, he has not installed a gui environment on his
server, unfortunately, we are only able to find installshield packages
for tdp r/3 oracle on solaris, there used to be normal solaris packages
available, where have they gone? It seems to be a bit silly to require a
complete JRE and gui install on a server to install a few solaris
packages....
