As noted under dsmc Query ARchive
in ADSM QuickFacts:

One user cannot query another user's
archive files unless the owner has
performed a Set Access to allow that.
        (Get ANS1092W if unauthorized.)

At a minimum, you need to perform the query either as the user, or
superuser. You say that you don't have root access, but someone
there does, so have them perform the query. In your position, I
would also want to see exactly what file paths they are archiving, to
verify that the verifying query you're trying to perform is in the
right place, so have the archivers generate images of what they're
doing.

Another, quick way to verify what's being sent is via Query CONtent
Count=-99 on the storage pool volume receiving the files.

I wonder if the queries are getting bogged down because archiving is
ongoing and "hammering" the TSM database with updates (and thus,
locking). Take a quick look at the Activity Log for any evidenced
anomalies. The SHow DEADLock command would reveal any serious locks,
but the frequency of basic locks could be an issue. You may want to
perform various queries when a query is stalled, to get a sense of
what's going on.
