The latest Mac client Readme file says:

  "At this time there is no support for Macintosh Intel or Rosetta."

This is conscious neglect on IBM's part...particularly given that
Intel Macs have been out for about a year, and a developer's program
was available long before.

You can get a decent amount of functionality from a late 5.2 client
level, but not full capabilities.
