You don't need to script it. Add the "memoryefficientbackup yes" parm
to your dsm.opt file - this will force the B/A client to process your
incremental backups one directory at a time rather than scanning the
entire filesystem at once. Since you *only* have 2.5mil files but they
are taking up 17TB, I'm assuming you have some large files there. It
might be worth your while to look into enabling subfile backups on some
of the larger filetypes. In our shop, .pst and .mdb files are often
reduced 80% this way. And I'm assuming you're using journaling, but if
not, you should be.
