Hello Gary,

Are your filespaces for the clients set for Unicode? On the server use the
query filespace command to check it out. If the filespace is not enabled for
Unicode then you can not store those characters. Note that if they are not and
you change the filespace to be Unicode enabled, it will require a fresh full
backup of the filespace. And you should also be on a late model of the client
code, as there were problems with the early releases of the Unicode support.

Subject: [ADSM-L] Problem backing up foiles with foreign characters

Tsm server v5.2.7.2, running on solaris 2.8.
Client v5.2 and 5.3 running on linux86 kernel v2.4 and 2.6.

Getting the folllowing on many files.
05/29/06   20:02:07 fioScanDirEntry(): Object '/usr/lib/aspell/español'
contains unrecognized symbols for current locale, skipping...

05/29/06   20:02:17 fioScanDirEntry(): Object
'/usr/share/hangul_keyboard/µåº¸¶ô_µÎ¹ú½Ä.kbd' contains unrecognized symbols
for current locale, skipping...

Is there any way around this, to force backup of these files?
I've only shown a few, but we have many non English speaking users, and this is
now a problem.

Thanks for the help.
