William..

Thanks for your response, sounds like I'm having a similar problem to
what you experienced. The reclamation job isn't cross device classes
though. I guess the other LTO3 drive was in use by an LTO2 process which
could be confusing it.

Regards

Chris

I had a problem about a year ago when I installed a single LTO3 drive in
my 3583 with 3 other LTO1 drives. I created a new devclass
and specified FORMAT=ULTRIUM3C and the original devclass for the LTO1
drive I changed to FORMAT=ULTRIUMC. Everything worked just
find until I had to try to copy from LTO1 media to LTO3 media. The
processes would just sit in a waiting for mountpoint and never
complete.

I ended up opening a PMR with IBMTivoli and the response was that the
drive allocation module would need to be re-written to handle
this going between devclasses with mixed drives in a single library. IBM
closed the PMR as a doc change. They changed the doc to say
that FULL support of mixed media/drive libraries will only happen if
you logically partition the library to separate the device
types.

I was searching the archives for my post last year, but can't find it
right now.

Hi David

As I put in my post, I've checked that the paths are correct and online.
Both drive34 and drive 35 have been used today by other processes.

I've checked they are definitely empty with the 3584 web interface.

There are no entries in the AIX errpt for them.

Regards

Chris

Did you verify that the PATHs are online?

All

I'm a little confused by what I'm seeing here and I'm hoping someone can
shed some light on this..

TSM Server 5.2.4.0
AIX 5.2
Atape 9.6.0.0

We have a shared 3584library with 12 LTO1, 15 LTO2 and 3 LTO3 drives all
fibre attached.
The mountlimits in my devclasses are set as follows

LTO1 12
LTO2 16
LTO3 3

At the moment I clearly have 2 LTO3 drives available with nothing
mounted in them (DRIVE34 and DRIVE35)

I have a space reclamation process running for one of my LTO3 storage
pools but its now been waiting for a mount point for too long.
This is an onsite storage pool.
The drives are online, I've checked the paths and they are correct and
online, there are no mount errors in actlog.

So has anyone got any ideas... let me know if you need more
information..

Thanks
