Appreciate any ideas ?

The classic approach to a LAN-based TSM server is to give it multiple
ethernet ports, ideally one on each clients-hosting subnet. The
client config for a given subnet would then specify that subnet-
specific IP address of the TSM server, and network traffic is then
apportioned nicely and does not induce the overhead of going through
a router, as it likely would if clients simply named the principal
network name of the TSM server.

LAN traffic is general, however, such that TSM backups and other
traffic could conflict. This then argues for the advantages of the SAN.
