We are going to be doing a "Migrate Install" from 5.1.9 to 5.3.1, to
facilitate the use of LTO-3 drives/tapes (Overland Neo 4100). Our host is
Windows 2000 Server, SP4, and all other updates, are installed. We
currently have a single LTO-2 (Overland Neo 4100) library attached to the
host. Current device drivers are tsmscsi.exe (5.1.9.38) andadsmscsi.sys
(5.1.6.8). I've confirmed that 5.3.1 will drive both the Overland LTO-2
and LTO-3 libraries.
Other than following the strict step by step install instructions from the
TSM 5.3 Installation Guide, is there anything else I need to watch out
for? Has anyone done a migrate install from 5.1.9 to 5.3.1? The procedure
for a migrate install involves backing up the databse, volhist and
device config, but does that mean I'll need to to do a databse recovery
once the new server is installed? Or is that just in case of a disaster?
I'm pretty sure it shouldn't need a database recovery, but I just want to
confirm.
Any tips/advice anyone can give me I'd appreciate. Going to start the
migrate install later this week.
Thanks in advance,
Alex
