Hi Joe

Yes we have, but the directory is exclude.

I'm sorry to make question and answer, but I found the solution for my
problem:

1) never stop manually the "TSM Server" service, but always use "halt"
2) if too late, restart "TSM Server" service, and then "halt" it from the
console, restart the service again, and the bckpool is back ONLINE !

Thank's to all for participation =)

Vince

Do you have an Antivirus software scanning diskpool directory???

We have run into this occasionally (I think on 2000 and 2003 - on 2003
we were running 5.2.2.4).

We've never experienced the problem when we issued the halt command. I
think we saw it mainly when restarting the TSM Server service.

Subject: Problem with pooldisk under Windows 2003

Hi all TSM lovers =)

I'm having a quiet annoying problem with my 5.2.2 TSM servers.

Since we are now under Windows 2003 with TSM 5.2.2 (before NT server and
5.1.5), we have a strange behaviour with the pooldisk.

Sometimes, we may have to stop the "TSM Server" service, and then to
restart it (after about 5 minutes of interruption)

We had no problem before under Windows NT.
But under Windows 2003, the pooldisk doesn't go online, and remains
offline.
When I try to vary the pooldisk online, we have the following error in
the activity log:

"ANR9969E: Unable to open volume <pooldisk file path>. The most likely
reason is that another TSM Server is running and has the volume
allocated".

It looks like the file is still beeing used by TSM when we stop the "TSM
Server" service.

Only way to get this problem sorted out is to reboot the computer (the
solution is not acceptable because this server is in production and
provides others functions).

My questions:

- does the "halt" console command remain the only way to "properly"
stop/start the "TSM Server" service ?
- does anyone have a tip to free up the pooldisk, so I can vary it
online
without restarting the server ?

Best regards
