I believe that's an Opteron, and the current 64-bit client won't install on
that, either.

My understanding from Tivoli (and of course this is not an obligation upon any
party) is that we should see a Xeon-compatible 64-bit client "in September".
The Opteron, I'm not sure.

What kind of processor(s) are in the client? If they're Itanium, you're in
good shape. If they are Xeons, be aware that the currently available
64-bit Windows TSM client will not install on Xeon-based chips.

Hi,

I have been asked to backup an XP Sp1- x86 processors- client.

The installation READ1st.TXT file for WIN 64 Client V5.2.4 contains the
following:-

 - Windows XP 64 bit TSM Backup Archive GUI

On Windows XP 64 bit with SP1 applied, the TSM Backup Archive GUI
(dsm.exe) will fail to launch, issuing a message "ordinal 6880 could
not
be located in dynamic link library mfc42u.dll". This is due to a
problem
with the Microsoft Foundation Class libraries shipped in SP1. Refer to
Microsoft Knowledge Base article 814415 for details on this problem
and
instructions on how to obtain and install the fixed level of
mfc42u.dll.
This problem is not present in Windows 2003 Server 64 bit.

  I cannot find MS article 814415 ????

(TSM Server is V5.2.2.0 on WK23)

T.I.A

Bill
