IBM Technote 1153107 makes clear that VALIdateprotocol is expensive to use in general. Whereas data is the volume-dominant part of the client- server
interaction, I doubt that going the extra step to VALIdateprotocol=All
could make it much more expensive.

The TSM 5.1 Technical Guide redbook and Technotes 1113590 and 1116431
illustrate where it has value.
