Dan - Read access is insufficient for backup, because the purpose of
backup is later restoral, and you can't restore where you lack
write permissions, which implies ownership.
See "Authorized User" in the Unix Clients manual.

When I do a 'dsmc sel /etc/hosts' I get:

ANS1228E Sending of object '/etc/hosts' failed
ANS1136E Not file owner
ANS1804E Selective Backup processing of '/etc/hosts' finished with
failures.

But /etc/hosts has read access for everybody. Is there a way to back
up
files with sel if I am not the file owner?
