What I was trying to convey:

Once Marco does the EXPORT (which is a copy) and then deletes the
filespaces from the TSM server, there is NO inventory of the data
anywhere.  You must re-IMPORT at least one entire filespace, in order to
find out what is on the export tape, or to restore a file.

Yes, you can retrieve individual files from a backupset, but you have to
know both the filename and the directory tree the file resides in to get
it back

That is incorrect. An export command does not move data, it copies it.
All exported data will still exist after the export is complete.
