TSM 5 2.3.4 AIX L80-HP LTO2 not working

Hello list!

This is a new installation, TSM 5.2.3.4 over AIX 5.2 with a EMC Virtual
Library and a Storagetek-L80 with 4 Stk-HP LTO2 drives, Atape version 9.0.7.0.

I'm using the EMC CDL Virtual Library with 20 SDLT drives on a P7000 without
problems.

When I want to use on the L80 the new HP LTO2 cartridges (HP P/N C7972A), and
after a succesfull audit, checkin and label, I get the following error:

This goes on for the 10 scratch volumes I had mounted on the library at that
time.

I also ran succesful tests on older used LTO1 cartridges on the same drives
without problems.  Forced the Format parameter of the class to use ULTRIUM,
ULTRIUMC and DRIVES but couldn't make the new tapes work, even using ULTRIUM2
and ULTRIUM2C Formats.

I tried writing to the tapes directly from AIX (mounting manually new tapes in
the drives) with dd and the command run without problems.  I have not yet
tried a restore from the AIX command line.

Anyone have a similar experience?  AIX errpt does not give anything either...

I contacted IBM already but the PMR is on hold for other administrative
reasons...

Any ideas/hints on where to look (logs, docs, etc) will be appreciated.
