Yes, to both questions. My expiration has been steadily running longer,
inspecting many more objects over the last couple of months. Also, I did have
an opposite pattern in recent history where my database grew fairly
significantly - in fact, I added about 4GB in DB Volumes to keep my DB
Utilization down around 80%. From that perspective, it is very reasonable to
believe that this shrinkage is due to the expiration of some large chunks of
backups that hit my system some time ago. I thank you for your help.

I'll look into your suggestion regarding the 'periodic query occupancy files'.

I'm sure it wouldn't sound right with my Southern twang, but 'Cheers' back to
you.

This is going to be down to data expiration. Does your activity log show
that expiration is running longer and expiring more.
Did you have the opposite pattern a while back where you database grew
over a short period.
What I find really useful for explaining where the data is expiring is to
keep periodic query occupancy files.
Then you can see by comparing the files which nodes are growing or have
lost the large number of objects to explain your shrinking database
