I have been told that TSM server must be at version 5.1.6.x or above in
order to backup Exchange 2003 (with 5.2.1TDP)... is this correct or do I
need to be running 5.2 server?

Could someone please straighten this out?

Exchange 2003 is supported at TDP for Exchange V5.2.1.  Also, Windows
2003 is supported with V5.2 client and server.  We've done a lot of
testing with V5.2.3.2 and so far all is well.
