Sandra,

You really should backup your TSM database every (working) day. If you have
another sort of tape drive attached you can use that. You can also use a file
device class and burn the files to CD.

Your number of tapes is far too small. You will learn this the hard way.

Steve.

Welll thanks Steve, Jack and Rick,

mm yes, you are right in saying all this. but the problem around here is like
we are in initial phase and it will be upto me to show them that we need more
tapes. Currently I have just 6 tapes (200GB each). I am going to configure TDP
for Oracle tomorrow and this will
be the only data which might take up atmost 2 tapes. Therefore, 2 tapes on main
site and 2 to backup site, reuse delay of 1 day will give me tapes for usage on
2nd day. This tells that I am not taking backups of DB on tapes and sending to
backup site. This is a good
reason why I need more tapes otherwise the bakups at backup site are worthless.

Yes my 3582 has 2 tape drives.

So in DRM we will have to move tapes using move drmedia, at every status of the
tape. This is all manual work and better not to be automated.... Am I right? or
I can schedule these in Administrative schedules? or do I need special scripts?
I am on windows 2000.
