It's possible to simply begin backing up the new server as normal, and
if/when a restore is required of the old servers data, bring the new
server up with the old servers nodename.

Or, if the old server is decomissioned and the disk is simply moved to a
new machine, using the NODENAME option in dsm.sys to give the new server
the old servers nodename and you should just be able to continue backing
up / restoring as normal.

...ah, unless when you say server you're talking TSM server, not 'Client
machine'....

If your talking about exporting data from one TSM server to make
available to another TSM server, that may then have restores initiated
from it, then EXPORT NODE is the command to look at.

Subject: showing another servers filespaces.

I was wondering if there was a way to export a particular servers
filespaces/archives and make them available to another server for
restoring
if needed.

This would be used where data on a server is moved to another server and
the first server is taken out of service.

Thanks,
Chris.
