We use an IBM 3582 (ULT3582-TL) tape library with the maximum of two LTO2/LTO1
drives and fiber connected, has 23 slots. Been using it since November 2003
with a Linux Redhat server and TSM 5.2.1 and now on 5.2.3 now. Works great...
just update all microcode and fiber code when you get it.

Subject: Recommendations for library ?

Hi,
I am currently in search for a new library for a small-medium sized
site. The new library should get FC-attached to a pSeries server,
runnning TSM 5.2.2
I've taken a closer look at an IBM 3583-18 with the following
features:
- 18 Slots
- Redundant Power Module
- 12 Cartridge I/O Station
- 4 LTO2 Drives
Question #1: Has anyone made experiences with such a library running
under TSM 5.2.2? I am especially interested in the reliability of
this hardware.
Question #2: Are there other products that i shoild look on? I am in
no way bound to LTO technology, but size an features should be
comparable to the above mentioned library.

Thanks in advance

regards Guenther
