We're in the process of replacing the LTO1 drives with LTO2 drives in our 3583 
library.  In the end, we will not have mixed drives, but will have mixed media. 
 When our TSM system was setup, we were using the normal length tape labels 
(for example, 000123) instead of the extended length (000123L1).

I am familiar with the procedure for changing the 3583 library to use the 
extended length labels, but what do I need to do to get TSM to recognize them 
(without causing data loss)?
