I will specify my problem.

We have two mgmt classes.

One for Windows2000-Standard for normal server(default mgmt class) with 
following setting on the backupcopygroup:

Versions Data Deleted 1
Retain Extra Versions 30
Retain Only Version 60
~~~~~~~~

And we have von mgmt class for images of our Windows-Cluster (every night)

Versions Data Exists 3 
Versions Data Deleted 3 
Retain Extra Versions 3 
Retain Only Version 3

The default mgmt class for normal server is used for daily file backup.
On Sunday we also do an imagebackup of some boxes with the same mgmt class.
The mgmt class is specified on the command which do this imagebackup.

The mgmt class for images is used for daily imagebackup of our Windows-Cluster.

Our Windows-team noticed last week that there is only one version of 
imagebackups of their Windows-Cluster.
I had "Versions Data Deleted", "Retain Extra Versions" and "Retain Only 
Version" at 0.
At Friday i changed all parameters to 3. On Monday we had 3 versions of the 
imagebackups from our Windows-Cluster.

But the normal imagebackups (normal server) we do on Sunday have only one 
version, too. But for this imagebackups we use the default mgmt class with the 
setting from above. Therefore i thought that we should have 5 versions.

Am i right?

Hi Stefan,

Versions data deleted is nothing to do with this. It Specifies the maximum 
number of backup versions to retain for files that have been deleted from the 
client file system after being back up using Tivoli Storage Manager. You can 
verify your managment class in GUI ,it is displayed against each backed up file.
If u have changed some settings in Management class ,then do't forget to 
Validate and Activate your policy set.
If you have more than one mgmt in a policy domain and u have't specified 
anything  at client level,by default all backups of that client will go to the 
defaultmanagement class.
so check the .opt file of the client for proper mgmt class .
