All,

We are runnig 2 instances of TSM 5.1.6.1 on AIX. The main instance
(sm040) manages the tape library. The second instance (sm040a) uses
virtual volumes and stores its information on sm040.

I am doing a disaster recovery where I need to access data on sm040a. So
I've done a disaster recovery of sm040 which has come up fine. I've
created the db volumes and log volumes for sm040a but I can't restore. I
get this:

NR0900I Processing options file dsmserv.opt.
ANR7811I Direct I/O will be used for all eligible disk files.
ANR8200I TCP/IP driver ready for connection with clients on port 11500.
ANR0200I Recovery log assigned capacity is 1024 megabytes.
ANR0201I Database assigned capacity is 61440 megabytes.
ANR4621I Database backup device class SERVER.
ANR4622I   Volume 1: SM040.DBB.076036350.
ANR4622I   Volume 2: SM040.DBB.076039191.
ANR4622I   Volume 3: SM040.DBB.076039817.
ANR4622I   Volume 4: SM040.DBB.076040893.
ANR4622I   Volume 5: SM040.DBB.076041968.
ANR4622I   Volume 6: SM040.DBB.076043460.
ANR4622I   Volume 7: SM040.DBB.076044272.
ANR4622I   Volume 8: SM040.DBB.076045096.
ANR4622I   Volume 9: SM040.DBB.076046189.
ANR4632I Starting point-in-time database restore (no commit).
ANR4373E Session rejected by target server SM040, reason: Authentication
Failure.
ANR1401W Mount request denied for volume SM040.DBB.076036350 - mount
failed.
ANR4578E Database backup/restore terminated - required volume was not
mounted.
2:root@hkgintsmsb1:/tsmdbb #

The activity log on sm040 doesn't show anything. Just:
ANR0406I Session 404 started for node SM040A (AIX-RS/6000) (Tcp/Ip
127.0.0.1(33465)).
ANR0403I Session 404 ended for node SM040A (AIX-RS/6000).

Here's the devconfig file for sm040a
/* Device Configuration */
DEFINE DEVCLASS SERVER DEVTYPE=SERVER MAXCAPACITY=5242880K MOUNTLIMIT=250
MOUNTRETENTION=2 PREFIX=ADSM SERVERNAME=SM040 RETRYPERIOD=10
RETRYINTERVAL=30
DEFINE SERVER SM040 COMMMETHOD=TCPIP HLADDRESS=127.0.0.1 LLADDRESS=1500
NODENAME=SM040A PASSWORD=1859668c281ca83d99
SERVERPASSWORD=1859668c281ca83d99
DEFINE SERVER SM040A COMMMETHOD=TCPIP HLADDRESS=127.0.0.1 LLADDRESS=11500
SERVERPASSWORD=18a838139af540d48a
SET SERVERNAME SM040A
SET SERVERPASSWORD 18a838139af540d48a

I logged onto my restored sm040 and ran
update server sm040a forcesync=yes

and I also reset the passwd for sm040a and forcesync'd it but to no avail.

My limited knowledge of TSM is now exhausted. Can anyone help?

Thanks

Mark
