I can concur on this. I also called IBM TSM on zOS support, back a while
ago, about performance issues.
He told me the default "maxquick" value is 4% of allocated/available
REGION. For us, we bumped it to 20M. He also said there is a usermod
that will "zap" TSM to make it default to 10% (or something like that) !

Hi,
3 month ago i read about PMR92547, that describes performance-problems
coming from a too small internal memorypool
Since we had speedproblems we doubled that pool size and after 3 month i
believe it was a good step forward.
With show memu you can have a look at the current settings (should be done
after some uptime)
MAX initial storage 1073741824 (1024.0 MB)
Freeheld bytes 45106900 (43.0 MB) <- this is needed
by
the TSM Server
MaxQuickFree bytes 52682955 (50.2 MB) <- this should be always
greater than freeheld
