No extra cost, it's part of the package now.

You do not need a TEC.
You must have a TSM server at least 5.1.8 or 5.2.2
(It may work at earlier levels, but is not supported).

If you have a WIn2K TSM server at 5.2.2 or above, TOR is already installed,
along with the server code.

If you have a lower level Win2K TSM server, or a non-Win2K TSM server, you
can run TOR on some other Win2K, Win2003, or WinXP machine.
TOR is a separate windows application, nicely packaged. Installing it on a
WIn2K or WInXp desktop works nicely.
It has no hooks into TSM code, it just issues queries and formats the
output
into html or email for you.

It is more about doing daily monitoring for errors and problems than
collecting usage data; it won't replace the accounting log, and has nothing
really about tape usage.

To install, first go here:
ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/storage/tivoli-storage-management/patches/serv

er/NT/5.2.2.2/

Download JUST the TSMCON5222_WIN.exe package to your desktop (assuming you
have WIn2K or WInXP).
Execute it to install on your desktop.

NOW look in the Program Files\tivoli\tsm\console directory, there is a nice
README with a lot of information.

Look in the 5.2.2 (not 5.2.0) TSM for Windows Admin Guide, there is a
chapter on TSM Operational Reporter that tells you how to configure it.
It's very simple to set up, it really takes only a few clicks to start
generating reports.

It's a very nice starter kit for new TSM admins.
You can do a limited amount of customizing, but if your scripts are
complex, TOR probably will not replace them.

My biggest complaint is the lack of information about how tapes are
utilized, and that you can't get to the README until after you do the
install!

Hi Gurus
I would like to know about the feature of reporting in TSM ....
I do have complex scripts generating reports using accounting log (too
tedious) . All i would like to know is the details of new feature TSM
operational reporting. I dont have TEC setup at this moment , but would
like to generate meaningful and most detailed reporting to the management
on utilization/analysis ........
Is anyone implemented the above tool? Please help me out on know, how to
implement to achive the above.

Thanks in advance.

Sreekumar Pothula.
